The exhibition unfolds across several venues — the Sala delle Pietre of the Municipal Palaces, the Museo Civico di Todi, and the Tempio di San Fortunato — and is held under the high patronage of the National Committee for the celebrations marking the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. Curated by the art critic Massimo Mattioli, the exhibition will remain open until July 31, 2026, presenting a journey that places contemporary art in dialogue with the thought of Saint Francis of Assisi and Jacopone da Todi. Corpi Mirabili Galleria Marignana Arte | Marignana Project Publication with text by Jonathan Molinari Marignana Arte is pleased to present the solo exhibition of Olga Lepri, Conchiglie. Corpi mirabili, opening on November 22, 2025 at Marignana Project. The exhibition comes as a natural continuation of the dialogue between the gallery and the artist, already initiated with the recent group shows Aldilà sarà at Spazio Berlendis and Apparizioni and Préludes at Marignana Arte, and is part of the program of Marignana Project as a space for in-depth research and experimentation. In Conchiglie. Corpi mirabili Olga Lepri reflects on the theme of the shell: a small natural architecture that contains within itself infinite possibilities of interpretation. Through painting and drawing, the artist explores the shell as an archetypal form, a metaphorical body, and a figure in growth, suspended between microcosm and infinity. Its spiral structure, mother-of-pearl, reliefs, and proportions present themselves as metaphors of an inner journey, as portals of imagination, and as reminders of the profound connection between the human body and nature. In the works on view emerges an inquiry that intertwines generativity and chaos, myth and perception, philosophy of time and poetic vision. At the center of the artist’s reflection lies the dual meaning of the “cochlea”: on the one hand, the shell as a spiral form, on the other, the organ of hearing that connects us to the world of sound. In this sense, the shell becomes a bridge between interiority and nature, between sensory experience and abstraction, because — as the artist has stated — “we remain human, and in continuity with nature, as long as it still speaks to us through anthropomorphic forms and metaphors.” The exhibition is complemented by two limited editions presented at Marignana Arte. Each print is part of a series of 15 copies, in which every piece is unique and distinct from the others, as each has been hand-finished by the artist with ink, tempera, and watercolor. “In the works of Olga Lepri, the shell takes on different meanings each time, as if every piece revealed a new nuance of its secret language. In Mother-of-pearl (The Colour of Blindness) (2023) and L ’estraniante (2025), the iridescent light of mother-of-pearl becomes psychic matter — a symbol of the feminine and of inner perception; the surface both reflects and holds, like a thought that never ceases to change. With La Goccia del Diluvio (2025), the theme shifts toward the memory of water and of origins: here the shell appears as a living relic, the seal of life’s first breath. In Naufraghi (2025), fragments of bodies emerge and dissolve within the shell, like memories resurfacing from time, while in the drawings of the Corpi Mirabili series, the shell is studied as an autonomous architecture — a synthesis of proportions, harmonies, and correspondences that reveal nature’s constructive wisdom. In the archipelago of shells imagined by Olga Lepri for the project, we also find works such as Pensiero (2025) — where the spiral merges with the human profile, transforming the natural form into a mental image, a face seemingly folding upon itself, immersed in sleep and reflection — and Vertebrale (2025), a work in which the shell becomes body: the curve of a bare back turns into a marine relief, in an intimate dialogue between anatomy and nature. ” Excerpt from the exhibition publication with a text by Jonathan Molinari ph. 02.10 – 1.11.2020 Arcipelago Aperto Magazzini del Sale, Venezia A cura di Daniele Capra, Martina Cavallarin, Miguel Mallol e Julia Terzano The exhibition brings together the works of nine artists who attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice from the 1970s to the present day in a dialogue between artistic generations, as a result of workshops organised by the Venice Curatorial Course. With the assistance of Daniele Capra, Martina Cavallarin, Miguel Mallol and Julia Terzano, the exhibition includes various types of works, from canvases to performances, from installations to site-specific projects. Through the works of Ludovico Bomben, Nebojša Despotović, Arthur Duff, Antonio Guiotto, Olga Lepri, Giovanni Morbin, Maria Elisabetta Novello, Michelangelo Penso and Eva Chiara Trevisan, Arcipelago Aperto analyses how art can be conceived as a plural system in which the boundaries between different elements are extensively and substantially blurred. Considering the archipelago as an organic entity composed of different identities, it is necessarily and simultaneously one and many, a choir and a single voice. Recent events have forced us to reconsider space as an element and to forget the concept of time. Forces beyond our control have forced us to rethink the concepts of dimension, coexistence and limits. In constant confrontation with external agents, an archipelago — and Venice itself — serve as a metaphor for a changing reality, always destined to transform and evolve substantially. Recognising change as a central element in understanding continuity and persistence, Arcipelago Aperto is an invitation to imagine new boundaries and redraw their outlines. It is a challenge to read the work as a constant reconfiguration and renegotiation, which takes place thanks to a continuous and plastic relationship with others, in which spatial and topological limits are constantly being redefined. The group show presents the work of three young artists – Greta Ferretti, Olga Lepri, and Sara Pacucci – who, through painting, explore the theme of waiting as a space for poetic and artistic reflection. All three artists, under the age of 30, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In music, Préludes are short pieces performed in an extemporaneous manner. In opera, they areoften played with the curtain closed, before the performance of the main work. The term derives from the Latin praeludere (prae– “before” and ludĕre “to practise, to play”) and, in a broader sense, means “to announce, to give a sign of what is to come.” The act of “playing” (with words, sounds, or colours) is therefore the moment that precedes and, in some way, generates the work that will emerge from it—as if in the prelude every possibility were still open, undefined, suspended, and, in a certain sense, awaiting. The paintings by Sara Pacucci, Greta Ferretti, and Olga Lepri exhibited in the show all investigate—each from her own original perspective—this “space of waiting” where dream and reality, vision and concealment, memory and presence blur and merge to make room for the arrival of the unforeseen. […] “Painting conceals and reveals,” Olga Lepri has said in an interview, “it is a system of layers and juxtapositions, of points of light and contrasts: it highlights the non-obviousness of reality. The uncertainty of the visible provides an opportunity to trigger the imaginative and interpretative activity of reality.” Read the full press release “For Olga Lepri, whose works inhabit the third and final room of the exhibition, the prelude instead manifests itself as a condition of waiting and suspension that redefines the relationship between the human and the real. It is a time of the “not-yet” – as she herself has defined it – in which the viewer does not recei- ve a complete image but is called to confront uncertainty, compelled to imagine what has not yet been given. In this sense, the prelude becomes anticipation: not mere waiting, but an exercise in interpretation, omen and pre-vision, in which perception moves between premonition and the present. An attentive reader of Derrida, the artist reflects on how, in drawing and in writing, the hand precedes sight, relying on the memory of marks to open a passage towards the invisible: “the hand advances – Derrida wrote – it rushes forward, certainly, it launches itself, but this time in place of the head, as though to precede it, prepare it, protect it” (Jacques Derrida, Memoirs of the Blind: The Self-Portrait and Other Ruins, Paris, Réunion des Musées Nationaux, 1990, p. 12). In Olga Lepri’s works, the image thus sketches itself as a blind gesture. Works such as Battito (Slipaway), Applauso (Slipaway), and the diptych Ascesa / Caduta stage this temporality: bound to rhythm, to omen, to the ambiguous mobility of forms always oscillating between emergence and dissolution. “ Extract from the exhibition publication with text by Jonathan Molinari ph. 26.09 – 01.12.2024 Aere Palazzo della Penna, Perugia A cura di Massimo Mattioli Torna per il quarto anno consecutivo la mostra d’arte contemporanea “Isola Prossima”, organizzata da Arpa Umbria in collaborazione con l’Associazione Art Monsters. Dopo aver esplorato elementi naturali come l’acqua e la terra nelle precedenti edizioni che si sono tenute all’Isola Polvese e Montefalco, per il 2024 l’attenzione si sposta su un nuovo protagonista: l’aria. La mostra, curata dallo storico e critico d’arte Massimo Mattioli, presenta le opere di 25 artisti di diverse generazioni e di rilievo internazionale, attivi dalla metà dell’Ottocento fino a oggi.Particolare rilevanza assume la scelta della sede espositiva: il Museo Civico di Palazzo della Penna a Perugia, che ospita una significativa collezione di opere di Gerardo Dottori, celebre esponente dell’Aeropittura. Il titolo della mostra, “Aere”, riflette questo legame con l’aria, e l’integrazione delle opere di Dottori nel percorso espositivo arricchirà i contenuti della mostra e valorizzerà la collezione permanente del museo. Fin dal Rinascimento, l’elemento dell’aria ha avuto un ruolo centrale nell’immaginario artistico per la sua versatilità. Dai famosi studi sul vento di Leonardo da Vinci, passando per il “Giove e Io” del Correggio, in cui la nebbia gioca un ruolo seducente, fino ai paesaggi tempestosi di William Turner, l’aria ha ispirato artisti di ogni epoca. Nel XX secolo, opere come “Air de Paris” di Marcel Duchamp, una fiala contenente aria di Parigi, e i lavori provocatori di Piero Manzoni e Gino De Dominicis hanno reso l’aria un tema di grande attualità.L’elemento aria viene affrontato anche nelle sue implicazioni contemporanee, come l’inquinamento e il cambiamento climatico. Gli artisti esposti offrono una visione ampia e sfaccettata del tema. Tra le opere in mostra, una gouache del 1850 di Giacinto Gigante raffigurante uno studio per una nuvola, e l’imponente installazione “The Cloud – Cuore” dell’argentino Leandro Erlich. Il percorso espositivo include inoltre le opere dell’artista indiana Shilpa Gupta, che esplora l’inquinamento atmosferico e il valore metafisico dell’aria.Anche l’artista Luca Vitone affronta la tematica etica legata all’aria con grandi tele esposte agli agenti atmosferici – pioggia, polvere e vento – che diventano gli elementi pittorici di queste affascinanti opere. La mostra è sostenuta da Fondazione Perugia con il patrocinio di Regione Umbria, Provincia di Perugia, Comune di Perugia, Accademia di Belle Arti di Perugia e ISPRA. The Dream of Infinity is a group exhibition that explores the relationship between the visible and the invisible, between the finite and the infinite, through the language of contemporary art. In a dialogue engaging philosophy and poetry, the exhibition reflects on the concept of apparition. But “what does apparition require?” According to the philosopher and art historian Georges Didi-Huberman, apparition “requires an opening — unique and momentary — an opening that bears witness to apparition as such. And here a paradox emerges, because the apparent, at the very moment it opens itself to the visible world, devotes itself to a kind of dissimulation” (“Glimpses. 15.02 – 19.04.2025 Aldilà Sarà Galleria Marignana Arte | Spazio Berlendis A cura di Emanuela Fadalti e Matilde Cadenti The exhibition presents the paintings of thirty artists from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. The exhibition is a continuation of a project from spring 2023 entitled Liberi tutti (Free Everyone), a collective exhibition in three chapters held at the Project Room of the Marignana Arte Gallery, which at that time was hosting a solo exhibition by the artist Aldo Grazzi (Pomponesco, 1954 – Perugia, 2023), who taught for several years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. The title of the exhibition was inspired by a work by the artist himself, which had been presented during his solo exhibition Evanescenze at Spazio Berlendis. The exhibition Liberi tutti, organised in collaboration with the Academy, not only drew inspiration for its title from Grazzi’s work, but also sought to pay tribute to him as a teacher; many of the nearly twenty artists featured were, in fact, his students. On this occasion too, the title Aldilà sarà (The Afterlife Will Be) is that of a series of works by Aldo Grazzi, and the desire to pay tribute to him as a teacher of a generation of painters remains unchanged, as does the desire to recognise the Academy, its teachers and its students for their central role in the development of the city’s artistic and cultural life. The exhibition therefore aims to provide an overview of contemporary painting, offering an opportunity to exhibit and promote the work of thirty Italian and foreign artists, all from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In line with the vocation of Spazio Berlendis, the project aims to emphasise the value of a cultural programme that considers the contribution of the city, its schools, its teachers and the new generations trained in Venice, within an increasingly active and international context, to be fundamental to the contemporary art scene. Many of the participating artists have been working for some time with important galleries, which have been fundamental to the growth and enhancement of their research, and are also fundamental to the realisation of this project.
