In an attempt to move beyond the iconographic and metaphorical structures of the classical representation of blindness and the figure of the blind person, the pictorial image in the following works reflects on moments of proprioception and self-awareness. The
choice of a more aseptic and realistic gaze hides a silent process of meaning-making through the image. The dimension of blindness—going beyond the realm of literal sight—is explored as a concept with multiple nuances, tied to an introspective world. These nuances touch on themes such as identity, the perception of time, empathetic and introspective listening, the human relationship with reality and with one’s own psyche, and the dream state.
