Le Diable au Corps

Galleria Giovanni Bonelli

A cura di Daniele Capra e Massimo Mattioli

BonelliLAB in Canneto sull’Oglio, a museum-sized space historically dedicated to contemporary art, resumes its exhibition activities with an exhibition dedicated to erotic desire and the restlessness of the body.

The large collective exhibition that reopens its doors, entitled “Le diable au corps”, curated by Daniele Capra and Massimo Mattioli, is also museum-like in character.

From 26 May to 31 October 2024 (extended dates), through the paintings of a selection of twelve of the most significant artists on the Italian scene born in the 1980s and 1990s, the exhibition explores the tensions and intense heat generated by desire, starting from the perception of the erotic drive as a fundamental element in the discovery of identity, but also in the destabilisation and questioning of the status quo.

The project is inspired by Raymond Radiguet’s novel of the same name, which tells the story of a forbidden relationship during the First World War between two very young lovers, a listless high school student and a married woman, the wife of a soldier at war. With nervous prose full of vivid images, Radiguet recounts this love affair, scandalous at the time, masterfully evoking the atmospheres, anxieties and emotional landscapes of the characters.
